Fresh From Our Lab: 3GJUICE’s “Just in Case”
August 13, 2009 by admin
What is the best selling iPhone battery in Amazon.com? Now and then it’s ours and then I cheer loudly. But most of the time it’s a product of the well known brand Kensington. They make a very small battery of only 5.2 x 6 x 1.2 inches. It’s very popular.

Customers asked me over and over again if I could produce a similar device. A small battery with less then 1000 mAh for “Just in Case”.
Frankly, I wasn’t convinced. Why make a similar device? Kensington has one already.
But…. what if I could improve on what is already out there? What if I could make even a smaller battery? And wait a minute, what if I could include loop through so I can charge battery and phone/ iPod at the same time? And let Apple certificate it?
I teamed up with the great battery guru’s of U2O from Korea. They deliver the energy for the newest product of 3GJUICE:
3GJUICE “Just in Case”, Price: $34,95
So what’s new and different? First the size. It’s 2.4”x1.24”x0.68”. Yes really. It has roughly the same size as an AA battery, but can be recharged over and over again. Well to be specific: it is good for over 500 charges. After that it slowly looses maximum capacity as all li-on batteries will do. You plug “Just in Case” into your device. This product is compatible with all modern Apple players, except the Shuffle. And it blocks the earphone jack of the iPod touch and iPod nano. But, if you wait for an hour to charge your Touch/Nano, you have power to listen for many hours extra. Better that then no power at all.
It’s half as small as that great product from Kensington. Yes, really 50% smaller and almost the same mAh: 800 mAh.
That’s enough for:
- Up to two movies with your screen on maximum brightness.
- Listen to another dozen audio albums
- Have a never-ending call with your mother in law.
I managed to cram in three LED’s for (re)charging info. Due to technical reasons, the system is a little cryptic at first, but you will start to understand it after one or to charges. A small right side red LED glows during the charge. It turns blue when you’re done .It’s possible to charge your iPhone / iPod and 3GJUICE at the same time. Click the battery under your device. Charge it. You will see the right red LED glowing. When your iPhone/ iPod and 3GJUICE is fully loaded, decipher the lights again. You will see, from left to right, two red LED’s and 1 blue LED. You’re done! Battery and iPhone/iPod are fully loaded.
Features:
1. Certified by Apple. With “Made for iPod” certification and “Works with iPhone”. Powered by U2O. It’s safe to use!
2. Charges immediately
3. Rechargeable thanks to included cable. Over 500 cycles!
4. With LED’s to indicate how much energy is left
5. Has loop through. Charge iPhone / iPod and “Just in Case” at the same time.
6. Smart technology protects battery from overcharging
7. Utterly small. With cap. Did I mention the weight? Only 1.2 ounces or 35 grams.
So where can you buy it? You can only buy it on Amazon.com as preorder in the US and not in Europe. It will hit the streets in about 4 weeks (September 14th). I’ll keep you posted here. Or go to homepage and enter your mail address under eNews and Updates.
So now we have 3 batteries: “Just in Case”, “3GJUICE De Luxe” and “Major Mojo”. Which one is good for you? “Just in Case” has 800 mAha and is for people who need the smallest possible backup. It charges your iPhone or iPod another 30%. 3GJUICE De Luxe is 1800 mAh and also small. It charges your device 100%. Major Mojo is 5400 mAh and charges 250%. This one has not a 30 pin connector, but a cable.
A good all rounder is “3GJUICE De Luxe”. But if you need extreme power, go for Major Mojo. If it’s “Just in Case”, well you know what to choose then.

On your we site you say that the 3GJuice can be charged with the enclosed mini cord or with the Iphone charger.
Please expand on this since I cannot see how this can be done.
Use mini USB to do that.. The USB-A can be put into your Apple charger.
I just have one suggestion: If you really want this thing to become pel, you should give it away for free to lets say 3 people. Then after a couple of days, get their user opinions and add them to the description of your product. This will build trust among your potential buyers.
Just a suggestion…
Apparently you are having problems with the first generation of this product? My first one lasted a week before burning up. Another one I bought seems to be on the fritz as well. I see they were pulled off Amazon's site too.
Yes, we had some problems. Can you resend your broken units to me? I will pay p&p
Please send a shipping address and RMA # to the E-mail I registered my comments with. Otherwise, I can just return them to Amazon prepaid. Is there a way to tell which ones are going to be bad? I quite frankly don't trust any of the 4 I bought right now, and this messaging system is the only way your company has responded to me. I sent E-mails directly and never got a response.
Tried to contact you by phone. Will send you a message outside this forum.
Henk
How long does it hold a charge if it is not used? I mean, if I only want to have it for emergencies, it may sit in my backpack for a few weeks without being needed. When I do need it, will it still be charged and ready to go?
need to give the matter consideration…battery is really important
I like this battery. What attracts me most is that it could be recharged up to 500 times. It seems to ne very convenient.
That case looks really great!
Thanks for your update!
First, the researchers created secondary organic aerosol particles in the lab by oxidizing alpha-pinene, the molecule that makes pine trees smell like pine. …
Wow that would have been so useful last week when I ran out of power at the airport…
Just stumbled into your site from the search engine. Keep up the excellent work. …
