3GJUICE MAJOR MOJO AND 3GJUICE AIR LAUNCHED

February 20, 2009 by

Thanks to 150 4+ ratings on Amazon and 4,5 stars in 17 reviews, sales are good. I decided to invest your money into two new products, available right now through Amazon for pre order.

3GJUICE MAJOR MOJO –  Some of you expressed that a stronger 3GJUICE would be perfect for transatlantic trips, really long commuting trips or even “boring meetings”. So I developed 3GJUICE MAJOR MOJO, a 5400 mAh battery which allows you to run your iPhone for a whole day. But I couldn’t help to make it a nice and portable battery. It’s only 5 ounces (145 grams) but has the same power as a small battery for a laptop.

It’s not a clip on but an external battery with a cable. I hate extra cables, so you can use your own iPhone charger cable for this product. It has excellent charging/recharging lights. Charge 3,5 hrs and battery AND iPhone will be 100% full of energy.

Users of other power hungry phones like the Nokia or Android G1, be prepared, the MAJOR MOJO will be suitable for your smartphone too.  Retailprice: $95, including bonus set for G1, Nokia and TomTom. If you order through Amazon, you will pay $89,95. (in stock now)

3GJUICE MACBOOK AIR EXTERNAL BATTERY – This handmade and expensive product is the smallest (and only) external battery in the world for the Macbook Air. Doubles the life of your Macbook Air. Battery has 220,000 mAh –  enough to make your MacBook Air work 3-5 hours longer. AVAILABLE NOW!

Already available now: 3GJUICE DELUXE 2.0 TRANSATLANTIC PACK : 3x the 1800 mAh 3GJUICE for a lower price.

“3x the 1800 mAh 3GJUICE for a cheaper price.” You probably mean “… for a lower price”

  2. Nicholas on February 16th, 2009 8:17 am

Pictures of your first 2 products attached to an iPhone please :)

And just saying my own opinion, the 3G Juice Mini is slightly too expensive for its battery life. I'm interested in it but I would choose the regular 3G Juice Deluxe if I'm going to purchase one because it's only a bit more expensive but offers slightly above 2x the 3G Juice Mini battery life.

  3. 3gjuice on February 16th, 2009 8:31 am

    Thanks, CORRECTED

  4. 3gjuice on February 16th, 2009 10:02 am

    Dear Nicholas,
After getting feedback of customers, we decided to don't do the Mini yet.
Wjat would your ideal battery look like?

    Henk

  5. Nicholas on February 16th, 2009 1:54 pm

A smaller version of the current 3GDeluxe. :)
IMO, the Mini design was alright. I was interested but the price compared to the battery life turned me off.

    So I'll stick with the 3GDeluxe :)

  6. David P. on February 16th, 2009 9:03 pm

“Price” questions aside (they are valid!), I rather like this idea of a bigger battery (I mean, in terms of capacity, not necessarily size), connecting by cable. I'm thinking mostly of overseas flights, though more and more these planes, even in economic class, have USB connectors you can of course use to charge. Otherwise, though, I should say that the original “3GJuice” is just classic in its simplicity and benefit. In fact, I bought it before I bought my iPHone….

  7. Nicholas on February 17th, 2009 5:42 pm

Do you guys have any intention of creating a solar powered battery? Whether is it wired or not, I'll purchase it! :D If it doesn't look weird.

  8. 3gjuice on February 18th, 2009 8:46 am

    Hi David,

The battery will have the size and thickness of a bigger candy bar. In field tests, it charges your iPhone almost 3x. Including a full load of the phone itself, you have 4x 100% energy. That should make you happy during a flight. You can load iPhone and Major Mojo at the same time. Still working on the manual and the bonus pack which will include stuff that makes it work with Nokia, Siemens and G1. Geek spec: it also works with the new Logitech Harmony 1100

  9. 3gjuice on February 18th, 2009 8:47 am

    Not yet…. but it's a good idea.

Where can i buy the 3GJUICE “MAJOR MOJO” in Europe? The Amazon.de store and the Strato Webshop only offer the “Deluxe” Version…?

    Nicholas,
Regarding the lack of interim battery stats indicators. Could you develop software that would run on an iPhone or Mac, that would articulate this information when the 3GJuice product in plugged into one of these devices?

  16. New Customer Matt on May 28th, 2009 5:24 am

I am a new customer and I just received my Major Mojo. Just refunded a Mophie Air battery/case so I can get the Major Mojo.

The build quality on the Major Mojo is great. And for my style of use of the iphone, the dongle attached battery works better for me, than a case/battery style, which adds bulk. I am really looking fwd to 3 full charges from each Major Mojo cycle.

Still in the process of charging for my 1st time. Looks like it shipped 70%+ charged. Few questions and comments.

However, I found the instructions a bit confusing and here are my questions:

    1. Are the a,b,c,d,e indicator lights assigned for the Major Mojo capacity or the iphone capacity?

    2. It states in the manual that it recharges both the Major Mojo and the iphone simultaneously. However, it does not charge the iphone while charging the Major Mogo, unless i press the Button, turning the DC Out Light momentarily green, then turning red, to show it is now charging my phone. What i am saying is, it doesnt automatically start charging the phone, as it would plugging in the white oem iphone/usb cable to the wall outlet or a usb port. Please correct me if i am wrong.

    3. I know that the Major Mojo will shut itself off while charging my iphone in transit, once my iphone is 100%. But when i am charging both at night while sleeping, will the major mojo also stop itself from overcharging itself and the iphone, when both are charging via a wall outlet?

    Thx

  17. 3gjuice on May 28th, 2009 6:07 am

    1. What about this: both! If you use the AC charger for the Major Mojo, wait till 5 red lights are blinking and you're done. If you plug the Major Mojo into the iPhone, the lights will become green, starting with 5 green lights and diminishing during use

    2. Yes you have to press once. Sorry, we should have written this more clearly

    3. Absolutely, it's designed to let you sleep :) It will stop itself. There is a lot of electronic circuit in the battery to make this happen.

  18. 3gjuice on May 28th, 2009 6:08 am

I am not Nicholas, but the maker. Yes, we thought of this, but only the new SDK makes this possible.

  19. Newbie on June 8th, 2009 7:49 pm

When i connect my iphone to the laptop via the supplied usb to iphone cord (retractable), itunes does not initiate the sync process. But it does charge.

    Is this normal?

  20. 3gjuice on June 8th, 2009 8:01 pm

If you use the Major Mojo: yes that's true. We advise in the manual to
use your own iPhone-cable (the white one) and not the bonus back cord
which is meant for charging only.

  21. New Customer Matt on June 21st, 2009 5:41 pm

I just picked up the new iPhone 3Gs, which replaced my iphone 3G. There seems to be a small compatibility issue with the Major Mojo and 3Gs; i have linked the error message from my 3Gs below.

I was using the Major Mojo for about 2 weeks flawlessly with the original 3G. But as soon as I got the 3Gs, i tested if it would charge. in short it still does, but now there is an extra step required.

    1. You attach the 3Gs with the supplied connectors and then hit the charge button.
    2. The 3Gs will display an error message stating “Charging is not supported by this accessory.”
    http://i43.tinypic.com/1z2hesj.jpg
    3. if i unplug my 3Gs from the MajorMojo and quickly replug it in, it will then start to recharge as normal.

Any idea how to remove this quirk or malfunction?

  22. 3gjuice on June 25th, 2009 7:58 am

Mailed you the solution already, but let me post it here too. Just use your
original iPhone cable and all will work fine! As you told me yourself :)

5400 mAh!! That's amazing! I just bought mine on Amazon.com. I don't care about price because not having a working phone is priceless. I went camping at a festival last month where battery power became rationed more than beer by friends. Wikipedia says the 3G battery is 1150 mAh. So does that mean this gets 4.6 charges?

  24. dmohr on July 15th, 2009 8:32 pm

I'm having the same problem as New Customer Matt. I have the U20 I-UP 5400 mobile power which is exactly the same as the Major Mojo (two company names, same piece of hardware) and trying to recharge my iPhone 3GS I get “Charging is not supported by this accessory.” The trick to quickly unplug it and then plug it back in allows it to start charging (you can see the lightning bolt icon on the battery icon on the iPhone) for about 2 min, but the battery charger turns off (seeming thinking there is nothing to charge). All of the above was experienced when using the wire setup that comes with the I-UP 5400, however if I use the white wire that originally comes with the iPhone to connect the two AND I do the unplug/re-plug in trick, THEN it does seem to keep charging. So basically this product would work if it came with a cord that works and instructions for how to get around the error message.

  25. 3gjuice on July 15th, 2009 8:39 pm

The remedy should be very simple.

    1. Have your iPhone ready
    2. Activate the Major Mojo by pressing the centre of the ring
    3. Attach the Major Mojo

If you attach the Major Mojo without activating it first, you get an
    error message.

Can you try this for me ( 1. 2. and 3)?

    Henk

  26. dmohr on July 15th, 2009 9:03 pm

Actually yes that did work! It sounds so simple, I wish the instructions had been this clear. The charger absolutely needs to be powered on *first*, then attach to the phone. Thanks!

  27. 3gjuice on July 15th, 2009 9:07 pm

Your welcome. We did change this in the new manual.

    Henk

  28. dmohr on July 15th, 2009 11:47 pm

    Hi Henk,
I may have spoken too soon. It did work once, but now I can't repeat it. It
is again failing with the included cord. The issue is that it starts
charging (for maybe 30 seconds), but then the charged somehow decides that
it must not be connected to anything so the charger just shuts off. Any
    ideas for me?

    thanks,
    Dave

  29. 3gjuice on July 15th, 2009 11:53 pm

Please do a test for me: use not our cable but that of your iPhone. Any changes?

I bought my MAJOR MOJO befor my Trip to Sweden, so i always have enough energy to track some routes with my iPhone 3G. It really works great!
But on one of our last days, someone smashed a window of our car and stole a bag with all my AC power cords/adapters for all my devices.
Now i can't charge my MAJOR MOJO any more! Where can i get a replacement for the MAJOR MOJO Power Adapter? Which other Powwer Adapter would work?

Got it, love it, changed my life! Now I don't have to seek out power outlets at the airport, or haul my power cord with me all day when I'm working outside the office. Only downside I can see is that the on button is right out there where it can be unintentionally turned on while in the briefcase. Somehow my original packaging got thrown out with the Christmas mess, so there might have been a protective case of some sort. Don't care, though. I love this thing!
